Gweilo is the collection of architectural luminaires created by the creative collective Partisans, included in the Parachilna catalog. Pieces with their own narrative, characterized by the sinuosity of their formal profile, and faithful to the particular design philosophy of this collective based in Ontario, Canada. Each Gweilo has a peculiar profile that evokes the typical image of a ghost, thus corresponding to the literal meaning of the name that defines them, typical of Cantonese Chinese. Likewise, keeping constant references to the disturbing world of shadows, for its formal development, its creators have been inspired by the sculptural capacity of light itself, after being captured and manipulated. For the production of the different Gweilo luminaires, its designers have resorted to the thermoforming technique, which allows the shaping of individual acrylic sheets of optical quality, while they are still in their hot plastic state, to give shape to the main structural profile. This process is completed with the insertion of a strip of LEDs in an extruded and gold anodized aluminum profile. This process makes it possible to achieve an endless number of luminaires with the same structural and aesthetic properties, capable of emulating the particular dynamism of a beam of light at all times.
